More facts

It was widely reported on January 30th that a Saudi naval ship had been attacked by “three suicide boats belonging to the Houthi militias”. An attack on a Saudi ship certainly happened, although the video on the BBC the following day looks more as if it confirms the Houthis’ claim that the damage was in fact caused by a missile. But exactly how the explosion was caused is not the point here.

But then this was reported (for example by Fox News) quoting unnamed intelligence sources as having been “meant for an American warship”. And the fact that Iran is associated with the Houthis was noted.

By yesterday, this story had become (in the mouth of Sean Spicer) “Iran’s additional hostile actions that it took against our Navy vessel”.

Which is quite simply false. This man is the White House Press Secretary.

Meanwhile Kellyanne Conway is talking about a massacre inside the United States committed by Iraqi refugees that never happened.

This woman is Counselor to President Donald Trump.

It is quite clearly a matter of policy that they lie quite deliberately, even about things that can easily be checked. And they will go on doing this for the next four years, or until the world ends, whichever is sooner.
